PRINCIPLE BELIEFS
What is it?
Hindus believe in the divinity of the four Vedas, the world's most ancient scripture, and venerate the Agamas as equally revealed. These primordial hymns are God's word and the bedrock of Sanatana Dharma, the eternal religion.
What do Hindus believe and practice?
The important teaching of Hinduism, or Vedanta,
is that a human being's basic nature is not limited
to the body or the mind. Beyond both of these is the
spirit or the spark of God within the soul. All beings
and all things are really, in their deepest soul, this pure
or divine spirit, full of peace, full of joy and wisdom, ever
united with God. Hinduism embraces a diversity of beliefs,
a fact that can be originally familiar to faiths, confessions,
and carefully-worded belief statements. One can believe a
variety of things about God, the universe and the path to
deliverance and still be considered a Hindu.

Atman and Brahman
Atman and Brahman basically means that in our deepest selves, we
are divine. All living things are divine in their deepest selves. Now, that
divine self may be hidden or covered over by hatred, envy, fear or other
negative things. But, it is there nonetheless and it is "true" and "eternal" to
your own.
